SWL Electrical started as an aside, operated to complement the activities of the SWL (Safety, Welding & Lifting) group which offers its goods and services to companies in Scotland and beyond. Winning an electrical contract with the Highland Council in its early days, however, was the catalyst that turned SWL Electrical into a worthy enterprise in its own right, meeting the demand to take on electrical contracts for all sorts of property owners.

SWL Electrical is managed by Grant Robertson. With 17 years in the trade, he believes an important part of what we do at SWL is delivering electrical safety to a high standard, particularly when it comes to upgrading businesses or rental properties to bring them into line with regulations and make them safer to occupy.

The extent of our services, and the size of our staff, continues to grow as we serve clients in all corners of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. We are currently in high demand for the installation of electric vehicle charging points, especially along the North Coast 500 highway.

We’re proud to say that not only are we NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) approved and regularly assessed, but we’re also CHAS (Contractor Health and Safety) compliant, members of the British Fire Consortium.

Our electricians are 18th Edition professionally trained with various safety certifications as well. All our engineers are IATP (Independent Asbestos Training Provider) certified to carry out non-licensed work with asbestos, which is still found on old distribution boards and needs to be removed and disposed of.

We’re IPAF members (International Powered Access Federation) and PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers Manufacturers Association) certificated so we can work safely and effectively at height. 

We have been appointed expert installers by Aico, the market leading manufacturers of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as approved installers of Rointe energy-saving electric heating solutions.
